One of the mistakes startup companies typically make in the early stages of development is overlooking the importance of marketing and branding their company image. To talk about these two super important aspects of any business, we invited our mentor panel member, Hong Kong based entrepreneur and startup advisor, Mr. Jeffrey Broer to conducted the workshop. He is an asset to the Hong Kong startup community. In the last 6 years he mentored over 35 founders and startups with a vested interest, is lead mentor at Techstars Startup Next program in Hong Kong, Mentor at SaaS accelerator Amplifi in Bangalore and Co-director of the Hong Kong chapter of Founder Institute for 2 years now.
The workshop was mainly focused on the following topics:
- Branding & Marketing.
- Re-designing the logo.
- Visual identity.
- The importance of content marketing.
Some key important takeaways from the presentation:
- Branding is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.
- Brand ≠ Logo & Logo ≠ Brand.
- Actively promote tactical push.
- Brand is what remains after marketing swept the room.
The perceptive and example filled workshop lasted for an hour including Q & A session.
